Church planters are missionaries. We may not cross oceans, but we do cross barriers – barriers that keep people who are seeking God from finding him. It is my desire as a church planting missionary to develop relationships with people who are entrenched in American culture and bring them into alignment with the saving, life-changing culture of Christ.
Because church planting is pioneering work, it requires significant funding from many generous donors to begin and sustain God’s mission for a period of time. Given the committed core of believers that are already on the ground with Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls, MN, I am hopeful that our ministry there will be completely self-sustaining after three years.
In order to pay my salary as a church planter and Lead Pastor, I need to raise $90,000 over the next three years. The breakdown is as follows:
YEAR 1 (July 2008 – June 09): $50,000 (100% of my salary)
YEAR 2 (July 2009 – June 10): $25,000 (50% of my salary)
YEAR 3 (July 2010 – June 11): $15,000 (30% of my salary)
TOTAL (three years): $90,000
Although these numbers may look like a lot on paper, it is really a pretty modest amount for a work such as this. I believe that no matter the amount, nothing is too much for our Great God to handle. I believe He will provide for our needs and I believe He may even use YOU to do it.
There are many different ways and levels that individuals, churches and other organizations can get involved. The best way is to pledge a regular monthly donation for a period of three years.
